Dave was born in 1931 in Chicago, the son of George Eldred Hood and Waity Hood. An 85-year resident of Hinsdale, Dave enjoyed many lifelong friendships with his boyhood friends. In addition, being an only child, he was very close with his first cousins, Molly Abbott and Stuart (Bro) Abbott. The three enjoyed spending time at home or outdoors fishing

Dave met his wife Joanne "Chris" Christensen at his kindergarten birthday party, but their relationship blossomed a bit later while they were at DePauw together and lasted a wonderful 65 years.

He began his career selling vitamins with Upjohn Pharmaceuticals then moved to Rheem Manufacturing and finally into the printing and ink business as vice president of sales/marketing with Sun Chemical Corp. (GPI Division) in Northlake.

Dave had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and canoing on the Canadian border waters with his customers, friends and son, David. This passion turned into a cherished yearly trip with dear friends and their sons for many years, creating lifelong memories for all.

Dave was very active and committed to the mission of Union Church of Hinsdale throughout his life. He served as an elder and in numerous volunteer positions, providing help wherever he was needed.

Dave is survived by his wife of 65 years, Chris; his three children, Kati (Steve) Chupa, Dave (Kimba) Hood and Sarah Koloms; his five grandchildren, Jennifer Koloms, Sam Koloms, Charlie Koloms, Tia Hood and Mariella Hood; and many other family members and friends.
