Rosemary Buktenica

Rosemary Buktenica, nee Dax, 91, of Willowbrook died Sept. 6, 2019.

She worked for many years as an assistant to the Honorable Daniel McNamara of the Illinois Appellate Court. Rosemary was an avid reader, writer and painter. Throughout her lifetime she collected a large library of history books, poetry books and stories of the West. She also enjoyed watching the History Channel, writing poetry and journaling her life experiences.

Rosemary was immensely proud of her family, and was responsible for instilling her keen wit in many of her grandchildren. She often referenced one of her favorite quotes written by Soren Kierkegaard: “Life can only be understood backwards; but must be lived forwards.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Buktenica; and her daughter, Janet Nelson.

She is survived by her children, Joan (the late Damian) Damato, Nancy (Lawrence) Borowiecki, Diane (John) Cella and Josette (Daniel) Cray; her 16 grandchildren; her 20 great-grandchildren (and counting!); and her siblings, nieces and nephews.

Interment is private. Memorials may be made to Wellness House, 131 N. County Line Road, Hinsdale, IL 60521. Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale handled the arrangements.
