Hinsdale firefighters responded to a utility pole fire Friday afternoon on Third Street between Washington and Lincoln streets. Firefighters had to wait about an hour for ComEd to arrive to shut the power off to the pole before they could extinguish the fire. When the power was turned off many businesses were affected. ComEd brought out a generator - the size of a semitrailer - to bring power to the businesses while repairs were made. Hinsdale firefighter/paramedics Kevin Baker and Mike Lorusso douse an area covered by metal to be sure the fire is out. (Jim Slonoff photos)
