Roots of Troop
8 inspire continuing legacy

Sarther wasn’t sure what he’d uncover when, about 15 years
ago, he began digging through the archives of Hinsdale’s Boy
Scout Troop 8 at Evangelical Covenant Church.
What he found is the reason for the troop’s centennial celebration
this year.
“I just started going through this stuff and was just fascinated,”
Sarther said. “I’m the person that really defined when we
started.”
His most significant find was a charter from 1914 that indicated
the troop’s origins and its sponsoring organization, (more)
